05 - Caching data

CLEANED LIST OF MOVIES

In order to cache the data, we have to compute and download the cached file:

We are then supposed to put that file in the cache directory located in data/cache/. It is already the case, so we can load it from cache already:

Explanations

We load the usual movie file and we clean it like in example 03.

The first button computes the clean data from the raw data then downloads it as a file using the same name as the facet.

In the second part, loadData() loads data from cache instead of finding the best solution like with retrieveData(). In this example, retrieveData() would not load the data from cache unless we set the facet to cached = true.

How to cache a facet?

Compute the facet *
Download it
Move the file to data/cache/
Set facet to cached: true

Caching clean data is recommended since most of the time you want to load it instead of raw data.

* Serialization & unserialization methods may be required, see in next examples.

Unserialization is not used in this example, which would cause issues. See next example to learn about that.
